Artworks

Peter Hardie

The main aim of my work is the successful creation of still and moving artworks, based on the study of natural phenomena and landscape. There are two distict objectives in these works: one to realise works which stand in their own right as artworks (both as still and moving image) and two to utilise computer graphics in an innovative manner. The works explore the area between realism, exploring the tools now available in a three dimensional computer animation system for these purposes, and abstraction, focusing on the aspects of light, colour and movement. All these works are generated within the three dimensional computer animation system without any photographic input.

These artworks pursue three aims:

  • To explore the tools available to generate the desired images; the actual marks of colour and shape given by such a system.
  • To further works, in the modernist tradition, based on landscape, natural phenomena and abstraction. In particular the making of images, which create a specific optical, sensation based experience.
  • To explore the means in which to present such work, as a still printed image and/or as a time based sequence

The animated sequences are on a DVD format, to be displayed on wall mounted screens or projected. The Prints are produced by inkjet with archival, pigment based inks on etching paper.

There are currentley three series of artworks, each of which contains one or more themes.
