Falling Water

Smooth Water

These initial works focus on an unbroken curtain of water flowing over a riverbed. It is a visual study, observing and reacting to the attributes of flowing water generated by the undulating surface, such as transparency, reflection, refraction and specular reflections, The intent is to capture the essence of falling and flowing water, at the point before the water breaks up into white water.

The focus of this work is the interplay of the water surface, the distortion of the riverbed through the water and the flow of the water before it reaches breaking point.

The works are based on initial observations of streams, rivers and waterfalls on Dartmoor.
