Falling Water

White Water

Areas of interest include, fast moving white water, movement and patterns of water and the underlying rock structure. The environment of rock and trees was a secondary influence compared with the water and has been negated in the work, the waterfall defining the underlying structure.

Of particular interest to me, in the white water series, is the utilisation of particle systems related to the abstract content of the work. A systematic approach was taken in this work, recreating the three dimension world in the computer system (moving water and the rock structure) and evolving various techniques to achieve the desired results. A particularly difficult area of exploration was the shading of a moving water surface. Techniques of specific interest were, the control of the particles and noise functions, motion blur and lighting.
